No. 47

 Marginalia

Every piece on this wall is lit the same way: one lamp, one candle, one window, and the rest left to the dark. A woman curled into a window seat with a persimmon book. A bookshop glowing on a wet street. A mouse in spectacles working through a chapter by candlelight. A raven keeping watch over the stacks, a moth pressed between pages, a quiet still life on the sill. A storybook map, a library due date card, and a line from Mark Twain to keep everyone honest. Forest green, sage, cream, and brass, with one persimmon note in every frame. Made for a reading nook, home library, or study. For people who still finish the book.
